About UK Sedation

Putting you at ease

We are a group of healthcare professionals who want to change the way patients access services, making it easier for both patient and dental team.

We all understand how frustrating it can be trying to refer our patients for IV sedation. These patients face long waits for care and all the time their dental health is deteriorating and their fear increasing. We want to be able to provide a positive experience for patients. We have put this website together to allow you to easily access a dental sedationist to come to your practice and help you treat your patient. We have made the process as simple as possible to allow all booking to be completed online. Of course, we are still here to chat to should you wish. We are also looking to expand our services throughout the UK, if you are interested in providing sedation services please get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find your answers below

How much does it cost?

We charge £295 for the first hour and £100 for every subsequent 30 mins or part thereof.

Please quote all fees to the patient.

The practice in invoiced directly following treatment and payment can be made online or via BACS.

Make sure the patient has paid before treatment starts as it’s not a great idea to take payment when they are in recovery.

How long does it take?

Each session is a minimum of one hour. It takes 10-15 minutes to induce the sedation. The patient will need to be in the chair for an hour at least, or transferred to a private recovery area after treatment is finished.

Who do you treat?

We treat all adult patients over 18 years old that are ASA 1 or 2 (fit and well or with a well controlled chronic illness). Sometimes if patients are borderline ASA 3, just drop us an email if there any questions.

How do I book a sedation session?

Simply register first to ensure that we cover your area. Once confirmation comes through and you have received your welcome pack, simply book online using the live diary.

What do I need to know before I book a patient in?

Have a look at our Dentist video in the resources section of this website first to find out what to discuss with patients.

Ensure that the patient has a printed version of our consent form, again available in the resources section.

Your sedationist will do a preoperative assessment on the day of the appointment.

What does the patient need to know beforehand?

The easiest thing to do is to show them the preop video in the resources section.

The most important things are:

Bring someone responsible with you who can take you home (don’t get a taxi!)
Don’t fast beforehand
Don’t do anything responsible the rest of the day like driving, spending money or looking after children on your own.
Do make sure you’ve read, understood and signed the sedation consent form before treatment.

What if I’ve got a big case or need a different time to what’s in the diary?

We’ve  done cases up to 4 hours before so if you need something special, just email us to discuss. Alternatively find a day when both am and pm session are available and book both!

What if I need to cancel or rearrange?

When you book a slot, you will get a confirmation email which has links to change or cancel the appointment. Please keep this safe but if you lose it,  just email us to rearrange.

What if the patient is unable to be sedated?

In rare circumstances, we can’t find a vein or the patient is unsuitable for treatment. Sometimes we can use Intranasal or Oral sedation but need to have venous access for that. If we really can’t sedate then the patient is refunded the full sedation cost there and then.

If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to email us or direct message us via facebook
